Vivara Vicharam: Appropriate Technology Promotion Society (ATPS in short) is a society registered under Travancore-Kochi Scientific, Literary and Charitable Societies Registration Act 1960 (Act XII of 1960), in the year 2001 under No ER.419/2001. The thrust area of intervention are Information Technology with the use of Free Software, Solar Energy, Health Care, Education, rural development, environment protection etc. In the past, it has been engaged in promotion of Free Software in the use of Information Technology for the people and has come up with viable alternatives in almost all areas of social life including E-Governance, ERP, Online Banking, Accounting, Asset Management, Publishing etc. In the process it was instrumental in the formation of many social ventures including OSS ICS, DAKF, FSIA, FSMI etc. Arogyasree is the latest project it launched to identify, formulate and consolidate a set of viable alternative health care practices for ensuring cheap and effective health care for the society as against the finance capital lead medical business looting the people of their earnings and well being.
